At Jo McAlister Coaching, we work with many clients who suffer from anxiety in and around Belfast. Anxiety affects over 8 million people in the UK at any given time, a little anxiety is normal but when it prevents us doing the things we want and need to do it becomes a problem. Its roots often lie deeper than we realize. It has the power to shake our very sense of who we are, leaving us with questions like, “Why does this always happen to me?”, “What’s wrong with me?”, or “Who am I?”

These questions become the focal point of our anxiety, often increasing their hold on us. When we delve beneath the surface, we often find that these doubts came from others. Do you really want to live your life following others’ beliefs and values when they are not working for you?

Anxiety typically happens when a thought is triggered, which then spirals into fear, potentially escalating into panic and even triggering panic attacks. In my work with individuals, I strive to pinpoint the initial trigger. Whether it’s fear of public speaking or any other anxiety, understanding the root cause is crucial. I find it often originates in early childhood experiences. This information, or trigger, resides in our unconscious mind and can be accessed and addressed with the right guidance. When we remove the trigger, the emotion behind it is gone and the anxiety goes.

As children, we take on countless beliefs and behaviours from those around us.  Anxiety, in many cases, illuminates areas of our lives that require us to change the underlying thoughts and beliefs behind how we feel. This results in positive changes for us and those close to us.

It’s essential not to suppress these feelings but to confront them, understand them, and ultimately release them. That’s where my Reset Technique comes in. By peeling back the layers of symptoms, we uncover the why behind them and initiate a reset.

I work with a lot of clients who suffer from anxiety in Belfast and Northern Ireland and I always stress to each individual that there’s nothing inherently wrong with them. They’ve simply learned to navigate feelings and situations in a certain way, which may no longer be effective. Through our work together, we update these old patterns to create a brighter, less anxious future.

All of this work is carried out from a place of understanding, there is no judgement and no criticism. As adults it is up to us to reset anything that no longer serves us, whilst being aware that what has been learned can be unlearned.

Ultimately, when you change your thinking, you change your life.
